Rochas Okorocha - A Blessing or a Curse to Imo State and APC.

Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha - the executive Governor of Imo State is not new to drama and all sort of avoidable controversies. This is the same governor that erected a 600million naira Christmas tree years back and he has been in the news lately for erecting statues for every Tom, Dick, and Harry in his state to the tune of 520million naira! If you need a statue – you know who to call! Uncle Rochas is your man!

I saw a video of his interview on Facebook that what he has in his head is too much and he has a lot of ideas on how to move the Nation forward i.e. he is gunning for the Presidency! This is coming from a man that has the opportunity to govern a vibrant and rich state for two terms and he has been busy wasting the state resources on silly projects!

The Nation woke up to another one of his “great ideas” this week again – The statue governor is in the news again for another “special announcement”. The clown not only created a very unusual ministry and position in his government but he named his biological sister as the commissioner! Yes as the commissioner of “Happiness and Couples’ Fulfilment”.

Just like most people, I have no clue what such role entails but as usual our maverick Governor must have his reason as he is a man full of “wisdom” - well while the Governor is still in the mood of creating roles and offices.

May I ask our dear Governor to also remember the singles in his state so they don’t feel marginalized? I think what’s good for the goose is also good for the gander. The singles can also do with a “Commissioner for happiness and Singles’ Fulfilment” I am sure they pay taxes too and they will be happy to be “looked” after!

Prior to the Governors’ sister’s appointment, she holds the post of Deputy chief of staff and Special Adviser on Domestic Matters to the Governor and she is expected to retain her initial appointment! What a “lucky” lady to have such a thoughtful, brainy and full of wisdom governor as a brother!

On the bright side – if you are looking for happiness, Imo State is the place to be. We now have a ministry dedicated to “Happiness” with a capable and trusted commissioner in charge!
APC must be having a laugh now as this is becoming some sort of joke to Nigerians. A “change” that’s turning into a “fraud”.

Rochas Okorocha is not only a disgrace to hardworking people of Imo State but to the entire Igbo people and the central government. If Rochas is sharing the same ideology with his Party then we Nigerians are in much more trouble than we actually think.

Imo State in the hands of Rochas Okorocha’s Family:

The sister as the “Commissioner for happiness and Singles’ Fulfilment”.

His daughter – Mrs.Uju Rochas Anwukah is a governing board member of a Federal College of Education.

His bother Jude is overseeing the revenue from sand dredging and laterite excavation pit in the state.

His brother Okey is overseeing the Imo State Transport Company.

His brother Gerald is in control of all motor park tolls in Imo State.

His sister – Mrs. Geraldine Obinali is responsible for all the markets fees and fines in Imo state – allegedly she is the contractor behind the famous Christmas tree!

His wife is overseeing the Amnesty programme in Imo State with a whooping 5billion naira budget!

The Minister from Imo State. Minister of State for Education – Prof.Anthony Anwukah is his in-law. Okorocha’s daughter is married to his son.

His Chief of Staff – Uche Nwosu is married to his daughter.

A government of family members and in-laws. Rochas’ definition of democracy is a government of “my people”, by “my people” and for “my people”.

Until we have critical thinking leaders in government, it’s just a charade of power-drunk morons one after the other who thinks they are doing us a favor by representing us.

That Rochas was a billionaire and a successful businessman before becoming the Governor is very questionable because he is definitely not thinking or acting like one as all his policies and actions are pointing towards lunacy and idiocy!

I sympathize with the people of Imo State – in Lagos state they will refer to this as a “Once chance”.

This piece is written as a concerned Nigerian. I am not from Imo State and not a card-carrying member of any political party just yet.

Update from Imo state this morning - 10/12/2017. Imo State House of Assembly endorsed Okorocha's son-in-law as next Governor. Uche Nwosu is currently serving as the Chief of staff to the Governor. Nwosu as the next Governor simply means a continuation of Rocha's policies for the next 8years!! Congratulations to the people of Imo State - the family business continues!!
