Nigeria Election 2019 – APC vs APC.

It’s all about preparation for 2019 elections in all the states. Various calculations, permutations, and cross-carpeting is ongoing, many will lose out and some will end up as a “winner”. Of course, it’s never about the people but personal interests of these politicians.

Don’t be deceived that there is a difference between the parties; if Modu Sheriff can join APC then you get the drift. It’s all a game and the best player becomes the king. There are no elections in Nigeria but pure rigging and whoever rig most gets declared as the winner of the election.

It’s 9 months to the next federal election and there is no concrete opposition in place. All the drama from all angles is inter-party issues i.e. internal caucus fights among APC leaders. The next election is mainly between APC and APC. PDP is not ready for the next election; they are too divided to present a strong and marketable candidate to challenge the present occupier of Aso Rock. Imagine the name of Atiku Abubakar coming up as a candidate? Where they have a performing governor and a better candidate in the person of Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo – He doesn’t have the money so won’t stand a chance!

Don’t even mention various other candidates that are mainly focusing on social media where there are no polling booths. Elections are at the wards and grassroots and unfortunately, the politics of Nigeria involves a lot of money that all these new entrants on social media stands no chance to find a party, how much more to win a local government in 2019. Western type of politics does not work in Nigeria, if you have the idea but without money, you will remain an activist!

APC has been busy using the federal might to silence all oppositions including within his own party and it’s working as planned. In the coming weeks and months, a lot of decamping will start happening from APC to lesser popular parties with the sole aim of securing a ticket to contest elections. A lot of killings, kidnapping, emergency contracts getting awarded to cronies – all to prepare for the war in 2019.

All is working well for APC so far as the oppositions are busy fighting their own battle with no time to be prepared for the next election, lack of unity, focus and national interest over personal interest would cost PDP the next federal election, if they are not careful – they will lose more states to the APC in the next election. APC has perfected the game PDP started and using their own tactics against them – after all, 70% of APC politicians are from PDP. It’s unfortunate that PDP has lost the election before even taking place.

What you would have expected from PDP is to settle all their differences, unite all stakeholders in their party controlled states and focus on the APC controlled states, unfortunately, power tussle is the order of the day within the party, they are more concerned about who controls the party mercenaries than winning the election. A divided house is falling soon enough; I have no idea what they are fighting over considering they are in the opposition!

Imagine a situation where PDP embrace peace in all their controlled states and other states with one voice, reach out to all other parties like APGA, SDP and others to form a MEGA party and present a young, vibrant, willing and popular candidate against Buhari – then focus on a massive, rigorous and intimidating campaign across the country, the youths of this country are now more active and interested in politics than ever. APC will not only be jittery but a lot of disgruntled and unhappy bigwigs and grassroots politicians in APC will have no choice but join the MEGA PARTY to force APC out of government, they will work hard to make the MEGA PARTY work because it’s personal to them and they wouldn’t want to go back to APC – the same situation occurred in 2015 and APC won the election!

As of today, it would take a miracle to kick out APC in 2019, there is no viable and ready opposition and it doesn’t look like they will be ready anytime soon. Obasanjo ADC party is only playing considering they are full of same old politicians with nothing new to offer. APC will use the same old tactics of planting their own men in various parties as a mole; such men will end up as Ministers, Ambassadors or contractors in the next government.

The upcoming Ekiti election will be a litmus test and a trial run for what to expect in 2019. Governor Fayose is a popular grassroots man who knows his people, you like it or not, this man knows how to play the game well and APC is aware of it too, defeating Fayose in Ekiti state won’t be an easy task. Of course, Fayose is aware that they know his game and for once he won’t be having the federal power by his side but as opposition – a case of David and Goliath! This will be interesting – I hope no one lose their lives in the name of power.

Fayose said recently “God is mightier than federal might”! – This election is personal to him, losing the state could mean jail for him, he is fighting the battle of his life and ready to give it all it takes! Rivers state money would come handy here, courtesy of Governor Wike who’s desperate to pocket PDP as a party, he successfully installed his man as the National Chairman.

Unfortunately for APC, as much as they are lucky not to have a strong opposition. They have a lot to deal with and they better sort out before the next federal election. So much in-house power tussle, this is not limited to the National level e.g. the executives’ vs the legislators but across all other APC controlled states. In Oyo State- Shittu vs Ajimobi, in Kaduna – El-Rufai vs Sanni and Hunkuyi, In Ogun State - Amosun vs Yayi, In Imo State - Okorocha vs Imo State APC, In Kogi State - Melaye vs Bello. Saraki camp vs Buhari camp will get more interesting in the next few weeks/months.

No matter what happens – the election will hold after so many agreements, plea, bargain, promises, settlements, contracts, bribes, threats, fights, arrests, killings, setups, implications, scaremongering etc. and if according to what’s on ground today and from all indications – Dear Nigerians, there is only one party in the next election and it would be an “easy” ride for Baba Buhari for another four years and Baba Buhari would be in his 80’s then.

There is no much time left for the opposition to do some house cleaning and listen to the words, cries, and pains on the streets. Nigerians are tired but we are being presented with the options to choose between a thief and a murderer which is rather unfortunate in the land of about 180m people.

God Bless Nigeria and its people.
